Grüner Veltliner – Austrian White Wine

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's signature white grape – it covers about a third of the country's vineyards. Expect fresh citrus and green apple, a hint of white pepper and a lively, mineral finish. Styles range from light and crisp Weinviertel wines to rich, age-worthy single-vineyard wines from Kamptal and Wachau.

Food pairing: Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus, sushi, fish, Asian cuisine – and smoked or salted fish.

Weinviertel (Ebinger) – fresh, peppery, everyday. Kamptal (Hirsch) – elegant, mineral Erste Lage wines. Wachau (Prager) – Smaragd, the most powerful style.
