Oxer Bastegieta Kalamity Magnum 2023

What’s in a Name The eye-catching name and label express Oxer’s love for Shakespeare. “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (Shame be to him who thinks evil of it) comes from the play “The Reign of King Edward the Third”.

Varieties: 48% Tempranillo, 48% Garnacha, 2% Viura and 2% Garnacha Blanca

Production: 3.200 bottles of 0,75 cl and 300 Magnum.

Vineyard 
1ha vineyard planted in 1920 in the town of Elvillar (Rioja Alavesa) at an altitude of 600 metres, on clay-calcareous soil. Old-fashioned mixed plantation of Tempranillo, Viura and Garnacha Blanca, with a yield of 3,000 kg per hectare. On the other hand, a 3ha vineyard planted in 1903 in Cárdenas (Rioja Alta) at an altitude of 580 metres. Clay-ferrous soils with slightly more than 10% stone, giving us low yields, around 2,000 kg/ha.

Winemaking
Fermentation with native yeasts in used 1,000 litre French oak foudres. It takes malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging for 10 months in used 600L barrels. Subsequently, it remains for 2 months in concrete to refine.
