Weingut Hirsch Ried Gaisberg Riesling Erste OTW Lage, Kamptal DAC 2024

A dry, single-vineyard Riesling from Ried Gaisberg, a classified ÖTW Erste Lage (first-growth) on the steep primary-rock slopes of Kamptal, farmed biodynamically by Weingut Hirsch. Where neighbouring Heiligenstein is powerful and spicy, Gaisberg's weathered gneiss and mica-schist soils give a wine of crystalline elegance and drive. The youthful, vibrant 2024 vintage bursts with fresh peach, apricot, lime and grapefruit, lifted by white flowers, a whisper of exotic spice and a cool, flinty minerality. Precise and taut, it runs on a racy, saline acidity to a long, stony finish. Delicious now, it will reward several years in the cellar — a natural partner for fish, seafood, poultry or lighter Asian dishes.
