The 2020 Sassicaia half-bottle pours a deep, vivid ruby with lifted aromas of blackcurrant, wild berries and bay. Subtle cedar, peony and a saline, graphite-like edge speak to its stony Bolgheri origins. The palate is medium-plus in body with vibrant acidity and fine, persistent tannins that drive a long, composed finish. Texture is polished rather than heavy, and the wine remains energetic from start to close, revealing hints of licorice and sweet spice as it opens. Decant for an hour or two in youth; peak drinking 2027–2038. Pair with grilled beef, game or aged hard cheeses.
