Paolo Scavino Barolo Bric Fiasc DOCG 2021

A benchmark single-vineyard Barolo from Castiglione Falletto, the 2021 Bric dël Fiasc marries precision with depth. The nose opens slowly with dark cherry, raspberry compote and pressed rose, layered with dried herb, licorice, clove and a distinct chalk-tinged minerality. The palate is medium-to-full bodied and firmly structured; broad yet refined tannins frame the fruit without heaviness, and the 14.5% alcohol is balanced by vibrant acidity. Texture is polished, the finish long and savory with hints of cocoa, iron and spice. Decanting is advisable in youth. This is a cellar-worthy Barolo that will pair beautifully with aged bistecca, braised game and truffle dishes, and should hit an ideal drinking window from 2029 through the mid-2040s.
