Paolo Conterno Monferrato Rosso I Cascinali DOC 2015

An elegant red from the south-facing slopes of Monferrato around Penango and Cioccaro, made entirely from Merlot. Its lush ruby colour with purple reflections opens with ripe red and dark berries, framed by a delicate green-pepper nuance. The palate is medium-plus in body, with smooth tannins and the lively acidity typical of lime-rich clay soils; elegant toast, spice and vanilla lead to a long, harmonious finish. Harvested by hand in early autumn and fermented in steel, the wine then matures and is usually bottled the following autumn.
