Paolo Conterno Ginestra Barolo DOCG 2012

A Barolo from the Ginestra cru in Monforte d'Alba, expressing the ripeness of the 2012 vintage and the dignity typical of the area. Rose, cherry and dried raspberry intertwine with tar, liquorice, tobacco and truffle nuances on the nose. The palate is powerful and taut, still with a firm tannic frame balanced by lively acidity; the finish is long with a balsamic shade. Oak ageing is well integrated and underlines the depth of the Ginestra fruit while preserving elegance. 2012 is now open and detailed, yet its structure promises several more years of potential. An excellent partner for braised veal, roast lamb and mature hard cheeses; decanting before serving is recommended.
