Jörg Bretz Blaufränkisch Rosé Sekt Extra Brut 2012

A precise, bone-dry rosé Sekt from Blaufränkisch, made by the traditional method with extended aging in large old oak and on the lees. The nose leads with wild strawberry, rhubarb and a lift of lemon zest, framed by subtle toasty complexity from long lees contact. The palate is linear and brisk, the mousse fine and persistent, with red-berry fruit carried by vibrant acidity and a faintly saline edge. The finish is long and focused, echoing redcurrant, gentle herbal tones and a delicate bittersweet citrus twist. Excellent as an aperitif and versatile at the table with smoked salmon, veal schnitzel or soft-rind cheeses.
