Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin, Chablis Grand Cru, Valmur 2011

The 2011 Valmur is an elegant yet powerful Chablis Grand Cru, showing a pale yellow with a green tinge. The bouquet offers citrus peel and green apple aromas layered with a pronounced stony minerality and subtle floral honey undertones. On the palate the wine is concentrated and finely textured, driven by bright acidity and flavours of green apple, pear and white stone fruit, finishing with a delicate nutty and saline persistence. Oak influence is judicious and adds backbone without overwhelming the fruit; the wine is well balanced and will reward both near-term drinking and short to medium term cellaring.
