Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Chambertin Grand Cru 2018

The warm, generous 2018 season gives Rossignol-Trapet’s Chambertin Grand Cru a vivid perfume and poised power. Aromas lead with ripe red and black cherries, rose petal, subtle spice and a hint of sous-bois. The palate is medium to full in weight with fine-grained, velvety tannins and a precise thread of saline minerality that anchors the fruit. Acidity is well judged, carrying the flavors to a long, stony finish that is classically Chambertin. This is refined rather than forceful, combining depth with finesse, and it will reward cellaring. Decant if opened young; optimal drinking 2027–2045. Pair with game birds, roasted duck, earthy mushroom dishes and aged Comté.
