Champagne Lacourte-Godbillon Chaillots Hautes Vignes Premier Cru 2018

A Champagne from the Premier Cru vineyards of Écueil in the Montagne de Reims, presented as a considered blanc de blancs in which the saline minerality of sandy and chalky soils intertwines with a delicate oak nuance. The 2018 Chardonnay was fermented in 228-litre Burgundy barrels and kept on its lees for nearly 50 months, giving density to the texture and a precise, creamy sparkle. Lemon and lime zest, fresh green apple, white flowers and a fine toasted-almond shade rise on the nose. The palate is taut and chalky, dry and straight, framed by just 2.5 g/l dosage; the finish is long, with a saline touch and a stony-dust line. The bead is delicate and persistent, underlining elegance and gastronomic character. Superb with oysters, raw fish, lightly smoked white fish and fine poultry.
