Champagne Lacourte-Godbillon Chaillots Premier Cru 2015

A silky mousse and an energetic backbone bring together the depth of Pinot Noir from the sandy-tuffeau soils of Écueil in the Montagne de Reims and the elegance of Premier Cru Champagne. Sourdough rye bread, wild strawberry and raspberry rise on the nose, framed by blood orange, salted butter and a chalky minerality reminiscent of oyster shells. Long ageing on the lees and a minimal Extra Brut dosage leave a dry, lively, saline finish, suited both as an aperitif and with seafood. The ripeness of 2015 gives the wine a harmonious openness now, while keeping potential for further development.
