Champagne Lacourte Godbillon Epanouis Premier Cru

Terroirs Épanouis is the long-aged expression of the house's Terroirs d'Écueil: the same Premier Cru blend from Écueil in the Montagne de Reims, left more than six years on its lees instead of the usual three. Edition #1 is built on the 2015 harvest (56%) with 44% reserve wines, from 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay grown on sand and loose clay over limestone, farmed biodynamically. Spontaneous fermentation, nine months in stainless steel and oak, no fining or filtration and a dosage of just 1.5 g/l give a pure, vinous Extra Brut. Intense straw yellow with copper glints, it offers quince, red and yellow apple, plum, a hint of fino sherry and crushed stone. The palate opens ripe, then tightens with fresh acidity, fine tannins and minerality, finishing long and saline. Superb with seafood platters, grilled octopus or a Comté soufflé.
