August Eser Mittelheim Edelmann Spätburgunder Trocken Barrique 2018

This 2018 Spätburgunder from Mittelheim's Edelmann vineyard shows an enticing bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries and a hint of black tea, enhanced by delicate notes of toasted cedar and baking spice from 12 months in barrique. The palate is medium-bodied yet concentrated, revealing soft tannins that frame flavours of sour cherry, plum compote and light forest-floor notes. Bright acidity and fine oak integration create lovely balance, leading to a lasting, gently spicy finish with delicate vanilla pod and smoke. A well-structured, harmonious Pinot Noir in excellent drinking form now, with enough balance to develop elegantly for another 4–6 years.
