Albino Rocca, Barbaresco, Ovello Vigna Loreto 2018

Albino Rocca Barbaresco Ovello Vigna Loreto 2018 is an elegant, terroir-driven Nebbiolo that conveys the refined character of Ovello. The bouquet opens with violet and dried-flower aromas layered over red-fruited notes such as cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, while subtle spicy and balsamic hints add complexity. On the palate the wine displays silk-like texture, crisp acidity that shapes the wine, and finely grained tannins that provide structure without harshness; body ranges from medium to medium-plus and the finish is long and persistent. The wine is matured for about 20 months in oak casks, which gently frames the fruit with a touch of vanilla and soft woodiness while preserving Nebbiolo’s floral lift and its capacity to develop further in bottle.
