The Terroir

This Coteaux Champenois Rouge is a pure 100 % Pinot Noir from the top of « Les Champs Chevalier » in Vrigny, Premier Cru village located on the Montagne de Reims between 150 and 170 m, on East oriented and moderated slopes. The soil is composed of Thanétian sand.

45 years old vines. 8500 stocks/hectare from a massal selection.

A natural winemaking

The harvest by hand is very rigorous (a drastic selection is done in the vineyard. Only the best and healthiest grapes are harvested). During 12 days, semi carbonic maceration with whole grapes and crushing by foot.

Vinification with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts from the locality.

No addition of SO2.

Natural malolactic fermentation in spring.

Ageing and After

Ageing on lees during 22 months, in small oak barrels.

Bottling by hand and by gravity.

Very qualitative cork and traditional Champagne staple.
